Chess is perhaps the only professional game where a person with blindness plays on equal terms with a sighted opponent. However, the lack of accessible software and materials continues to pose significant challenges. We are on a mission to redefine accessibility in chess.
Screen reading software such as JAWS and NVDA convert textual information into speech and braille feedback, yet, due to the visual and diagrammatic nature of chess, popular chess software and websites are generally inaccessible for the blind. We have identified the critical gaps and addressed them with the help of our tools.
SK Chess is an innovative software designed to be fully accessible, assisting visually challenged chess players in reading books, watching games, and analyzing positions with powerful chess engines.
Please note that SK Chess is currently in its beta phase.
You might need to temporarily disable your antivirus software during the download and installation process.
